SEAPAL Vallarta expands school water program and manages emergency supply

SEAPAL Vallarta is expanding its 'Bebederos Escolares' program to provide free, high-quality drinking water to more schools in Puerto Vallarta for the 2026-2027 academic cycle. The initiative, led by Carlos Ruiz, aims to support student health, reduce family expenses on bottled water, and promote environmental sustainability by decreasing plastic waste. Several technical secondary schools and primary schools are already participating in the program.

Separately, the agency managed an emergency water distribution operation following service disruptions caused by delays from the Puerto Vallarta–Las Varas Highway Concessionaire. SEAPAL delivered over 4 million liters of drinking water via tanker trucks to residential areas, hospitals, and health centers, including Las Juntas and Las Mojoneras. Following these repairs, the agency also pivoted to disaster cleanup efforts after heavy rainstorms caused localized flooding in parts of the city.
