Search and rescue teams locate missing person near Quesnel
A missing person was located in a creek bed east of Quesnel following an extensive search operation involving more than 30 volunteers. The search was initiated after the individual failed to return to a designated meeting location on the night of October 4.
Quesnel Search and Rescue (QSAR) coordinated the effort, which included ground teams, RCMP Air Services, and assistance from Prince George Search and Rescue and Central Cariboo Search and Rescue. A drone team also utilized thermal imaging technology to assist in the search.
The individual was found shortly before midnight in a creek bed upstream from their last known position. Due to difficult terrain and the person's condition, search and rescue crews decided to remain with the subject overnight to ensure their wellbeing. A helicopter rescue team was scheduled to perform an extraction at first light.
