Search Continues for Missing Adolescent After Bridge Accident in Kouroussa, Guinea

Three days after a collision between a tricycle and a motorcycle on the Grand Pont métallique in Kouroussa, the body of 12‑year‑old Moussa remains unrecovered. The accident on 30 July 2026 sent Moussa into the Niger River, and his companion was unable to rescue him. Local fisherman, village residents and officials have deployed pirogues and other boats to scour the river, but no trace has been found.

Kouroussa authorities, including deputy patriarch Sandaly Kanté, say all available resources are being used and nearby villages have been alerted to assist. The community continues to hold vigils while the search persists.
