67‑Year‑Old Man Found Dead After Disappearing in Slovak Reservoir

A 67‑year‑old man went swimming in the Ľuboreč water reservoir near Lučenec, Slovakia, on 18 July and did not return to shore. Police launched an extensive search that involved local police patrols, firefighters, anglers and specialized divers. The operation continued through the night and, on 19 July, divers recovered the man's body from the bottom of the reservoir; no signs of life were found.

Following the tragedy, the Banskobystrická regional police issued a public warning urging recreational swimmers to assess their abilities, avoid over‑estimating their swimming skills and always prioritize safety when entering water.
