Search continues for missing fisherman in Paraná River

Authorities in Argentina are conducting an ongoing search for Arsenio Ramírez, a 45-year-old fisherman who disappeared in the Paraná River near Ituzaingó on August 21. Ramírez was last seen at a local store after a day of fishing; he contacted his wife around 9:00 PM to say he was returning home, but he never arrived.

His boat was discovered drifting near the riverbank the following day. Police investigations noted that the vessel showed no signs of damage or nautical accidents, and all of his personal belongings remained on board. A joint search operation involving the Ituzaingó First Precinct, Rural Police, and the Prefectura Naval Argentina is currently focusing on the Rivadavia, Apipé Chico, and Paloma islands.

Local reports suggest potential foul play due to the location of the disappearance. Some fishermen speculate that Ramírez may have been targeted because he had previously cut fishing nets in areas near the disputed border with Paraguay. Judicial authorities are expected to conduct searches in the coming hours to find evidence that might clarify the circumstances of his disappearance.
