Tucumán search intensifies for missing teacher Raúl Moyano
Search operations have intensified in the Ñuñorco Grande mountain area of Tafí del Valle, Tucumán, to locate Raúl Alfredo Moyano, a 59-year-old retired teacher. Moyano, a resident of Bariloche, has been missing since October 12 after embarking on a solo hike.
Authorities have established an advanced base camp at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters to overcome logistical challenges, as the ascent from El Mollar can take up to five hours. The operation includes the Tucumán Police, Gendarmería Nacional, and specialized mountain rescue teams. To expand the search radius, officials are utilizing a provincial helicopter and four drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras.
Key clues in the investigation include a cell phone signal detected near Los Sarmientos and the recent discovery of a book belonging to the teacher in a difficult-to-access area. Rescuers, supported by specialized search dogs from Catamarca and volunteers, are focusing efforts on the southeastern and southern sectors of the mountain, near Provincial Route 307 and the El Indio area.
