Search for missing 14-year-old expands to Panama Bay
Search operations continue for a 14-year-old boy who was swept away by strong river currents in the Samaria sector of San Miguelito. Following unsuccessful searches along the riverbanks and the use of drones, rescue teams have expanded the search area to include the outer waters of the Panama Bay.
Rescuers believe the heavy currents from recent rainfall may have carried the minor out of the riverbed and into the bay. On Friday, a boat conducted a sweep from the mouth of the river toward Taboguilla, but no traces of the boy were found.
The operation, involving approximately 40 personnel from the Fire Department, the Red Cross, and the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), was suspended Friday evening due to weather and tidal protocols. Search efforts are scheduled to resume Saturday morning, contingent upon sea conditions and tides.
