Search for Nancy Guthrie intensifies as Mexican volunteers locate 25 unmarked graves

Nancy Guthrie, an 84‑year‑old missing from Tucson, Arizona, has been the focus of a cross‑border investigation since her disappearance on Jan. 31. Volunteer search groups in Mexico, including Buscando Corazones Nogales and Madres Buscadoras de Sonora, have been combing areas near Nogales, Sonora, after an anonymous tip placed the missing woman about 70 miles from her home.

On June 17 the volunteers uncovered 25 unmarked graves in the vicinity, none of which have been linked to Guthrie. The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office has formally requested a DNA sample from the Guthrie family to determine whether any of the remains belong to her. Mexican authorities say they have not received an official request for assistance from U.S. law‑enforcement agencies, although the FBI has reportedly been in contact with Mexican officials. Savannah Guthrie continues to offer a $1 million reward, and the search remains active with no suspects identified.
