Brazil Police Conduct Searches and Arrests in Rio, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo

Security forces in Brazil intensified operations in several states. In Itaperuna, Rio de Janeiro, police deployed a helicopter, canine units and a task force from the 29th BPM, Civil Police and Fire Department to locate 72‑year‑old doctor Marcos Vinicius Duarte D’Almeida, missing since July 2.

In Arroio do Tigre, Rio Grande do Sul, the Civil Police arrested a 48‑year‑old man suspected of ordering the July 2 killing of farmer Antônio Vanderlei de Campos. The suspect, previously convicted of attempted homicide, was taken to Sobradinho State Prison pending trial.

In Araras, São Paulo, officers from a motorcycle support unit captured a man with an active warrant for violating a domestic‑violence protection order. After confirming the warrant, the suspect was processed at a health unit and transferred to police custody.
