Search operations conclude for two separate drowning incidents in Brazil and Mato Grosso

Search operations have concluded following two separate drowning incidents involving young men in Brazil.

In Pará, authorities have paused the search for 19-year-old Guilherme Henrique Lima de Oliveira, who disappeared in the Tucuruí dam lake near Breu Branco. Oliveira reportedly fell from a jet-ski during a maneuver on Sunday and was not wearing a life jacket. Firefighters reported significant challenges due to the water reaching depths of 40 meters, low visibility, and heavy mud on the lake floor.

In Mato Grosso, the body of 24-year-old dentistry student Gabriel Renan da Silva Pontes was recovered at Salto Magessi, near the border of Santa Rita do Trivelato and Boa Esperança do Norte. Pontes disappeared on Sunday while swimming during a family camping trip. Divers located his body approximately 1.5 kilometers downstream from the initial incident. Rescuers noted the complexity of the operation due to river depths of up to 15 meters, submerged rocks, and near-zero visibility in deeper sections.
