Search operations continue for missing maritime victims in Indonesia
Search and rescue operations are ongoing in two separate maritime incidents in Indonesia.
In Southeast Sulawesi, teams are searching for Abdul Rahman, a 45-year-old crew member of the MV LGH Prosper who fell overboard near Toronipa. Entering the fourth day of the operation, rescuers are combing an area of 42 square nautical miles using parallel track spacing and visual searches. The incident occurred on October 19, 2026, when the victim fell while installing a pilot ladder on the ship's port side.
In West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, authorities have extended the search for Veronica Beatrix Jessica, 23, for an additional three days. She is the sole missing person from the KM Feronia, a traditional pinisi vessel that capsized after encountering strong currents near Pulau Tatawa on October 13. While 29 others were rescued, search teams continue to use sonar technology and diving to locate the victim, having already recovered items such as lifebuoys and emergency beacons.
