Search operations underway for missing persons in Bolivia and Peru
Authorities and families are searching for two individuals reported missing in separate incidents in Bolivia and Peru.
In Bolivia, 23-year-old miner Ilder Arancibia Luna has been missing for 27 days. He was last seen on September 8 when he left his home in the Santa Rosa area of Potosí to work in the tunnels of Cerro Rico. His father, Luciano Arancibia, reported that while the young man initially responded to calls, communication has since ceased. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, blue pants, and white sneakers.
In Peru, 30-year-old Australian tourist Jordan Hao Yap has been missing for 19 days in the Huayhuash mountain range of Áncash. Yap departed Huaraz on September 14 for a solo trek without a guide or agency. He failed to return as scheduled on September 23, and his family confirmed he did not board his planned flight to Cusco. High Mountain Police have launched search operations across several sectors, including Cuartelhuain and Viconga. Authorities noted that Yap had previously reported issues with his satellite communication device, making GPS tracking difficult.
