Search resumes for missing Ukrainian man at Praia da Ursa

Search operations have resumed by land and sea for a 26-year-old Ukrainian man who disappeared at Praia da Ursa in Sintra. The disappearance occurred on Friday morning while the man was swimming with friends and reportedly encountered difficulties in the surf zone.

The alert was raised by nearby tourists around 11:50 a.m. on Friday. The search is being coordinated by the Captain of the Port and Local Commander of the Cascais Maritime Police.

Involved resources include crews from the Cascais and Ericeira Lifeguard Stations, elements from the Cascais Maritime Police, the ‘SeaWatch’ project, the Sintra Municipal Council ‘Praia Segura’ project, and the Almoçageme Volunteer Firefighters. Additionally, a Portuguese Air Force aircraft and a helicopter are supporting the efforts, with approximately 19 operational personnel and four land vehicles deployed.
