Search underway for missing 18-year-old in Buenos Aires

An intensive search is underway for 18-year-old Franco Krikor Alderete Tchobanian, who disappeared in Buenos Aires during the early hours of Friday. According to his family, the young man went to view an eclipse from the pedestrian bridge at the Faculty of Law before accompanying a friend to a bus stop near the MALBA museum.

His family lost contact with him after 1:20 a.m., and his phone has since been turned off. The search began after a friend alerted his parents to a social media post in which the young man appeared to be saying goodbye. Upon inspecting his room, his family discovered two letters hidden under his pillow.

Alderete Tchobanian left his home wearing a black sweater and black dress pants, carrying a backpack and his national identity document (DNI). A formal report has been filed with the Vecinal 2-B Police Station.
