Search underway for missing 78-year-old woman in Castrovillari

Authorities have launched an intensive search for 78-year-old Maria Santandrea, a resident of Frascineto, who has been missing since she went to Castrovillari to shop.

The last sighting of the woman was reported in the Conca del Re area, near the Castrovillari prison. A large-scale rescue operation is currently underway involving the Carabinieri, Carabinieri Forestali, Vigili del Fuoco, Guardia di Finanza, Soccorso Alpino, and Protezione Civile, along with various volunteers.

Search teams are utilizing specialized equipment, including a Fire Department helicopter and canine units, to cover difficult terrain. Local authorities have appealed to the public for any information regarding her whereabouts and have requested that citizens do not organize independent searches to avoid interfering with professional rescue efforts.
