Search underway for missing 80-year-old in Pola de Laviana

Emergency services are conducting an intensive search for an 80-year-old man who disappeared from a gerontological center in Pola de Laviana, Asturias. The man was last seen at the facility at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Asturias Emergency Service (SEPA) mobilized a large-scale operation including firefighters, canine units, drones with thermal imaging cameras, and rescue groups. Search efforts initially focused on the riverbanks and a two-kilometer area extending toward Blimea.

As the operation continues, an advanced command post is being established in the Río Cares street public parking area. The search involves the SEPA medicalized helicopter, the Red Cross's land and water emergency response teams (ERIE), and volunteers from Civil Protection.
