Search underway for missing Argentine prison sergeant in Oberá

José Martín Parfeniuk, a 43‑year‑old sergeant of the Provincial Prison Service, vanished after departing Oberá on 1 July for a routine medical examination in Posadas. He boarded a bus at the Oberá terminal, but there is no record of his arrival at the medical facility and he has not been heard from since. His family filed a missing‑person report on 3 July, prompting police to launch a wide‑scale search covering bus terminals, routes and local neighborhoods. Authorities note that Parfeniuk was under psychological treatment that required monthly trips to Posadas. Investigators are interviewing bus drivers, reviewing transport logs and canvassing the area, while urging anyone with information to contact the police or call 911.

The operation involves both regional police and prison service personnel, who have asked the community for assistance in locating the missing sergeant. No concrete leads have emerged, and the search remains ongoing.
