Search underway for missing man in Idaho Falls Snake River

Search crews are conducting operations to locate Teng Go, an 88-year-old man from Arizona, after he slipped off rocks and fell into the Snake River near the Idaho Falls Greenbelt on Sunday afternoon. The search is concentrated between the Broadway Bridge and South Tourist Park.

To assist dive teams, officials have reduced water flow from the Palisades Dam to lower downstream currents near the downtown Broadway Bridge. This follows a similar incident in June, when a visitor from Louisiana drowned in the same area after losing footing on the riverbank rocks.

The recurring incidents have prompted local debate regarding safety measures. While some community members have called for warning signs or protective fencing along the slippery rocks, others, including local law enforcement, suggest that such barriers may be unnecessary or could impact the area's natural beauty.
