Searches for missing persons in São Paulo’s Martinópolis and Araçatuba

A 64‑year‑old man, Altair Abreu, has been missing since 22 June after leaving his home in the Jardim Paulista district of Martinópolis for a walk near Lake Barreirão. Civil Police, the municipal Civil Protection and Defense Coordination and the fire brigade have conducted land and shoreline searches, with additional sweeps planned in nearby forested areas.

In Araçatuba, two more disappearances have drawn community concern. Twenty‑six‑year‑old delivery worker Jefferson Paiva Ferreira vanished on 28 July after finishing his shift at a beverage depot in the Moradas Condominium. His mother reports he showed signs of depression and substance use. Seventy‑six‑year‑old retiree Renato Luiz Antônio, who suffers from dementia following a recent stroke, was last seen on 2 July leaving his home in the Morada dos Nobres neighborhood. Families have appealed for information, directing tips to local police and themselves.
