Seasonal autumn events scheduled at Japanese gardens and sites
Various seasonal events are scheduled across different locations in Japan to celebrate the autumn season.
Shijonawate Cemetery will host a “fureai zoo” (interactive zoo) on October 12, 2026. The event features various animals including rabbits, goats, sheep, and miniature horses, with opportunities for commemorative photos. Other activities include food trucks, a super ball scoop game for children, and consultations regarding grave management.
Tonogayato Gardens is preparing for the autumn foliage season, with peak colors expected from mid-November to early December. Scheduled events include traditional “kamikiri” paper-cutting performances, traditional skill demonstrations, and a classical music concert featuring violin and cello duets. Food trucks will also be available from November 20 to November 23.
Kyū-Furukawa Gardens will hold an Autumn Rose Festival from October 10 to November 6. The festival showcases approximately 200 rose plants of 100 different species. Highlights include a clarinet quartet performance on October 18, guided morning rose garden walks, and a “Rose Garden Market” featuring rose-themed goods and gelato.
