Seasonal autumn shifts impact home cleaning and spider sightings

As autumn approaches, changes in seasonal routines and environment lead to specific household needs. Experts suggest that the shorter days and colder weather make it an ideal time for deep cleaning. Recommended areas for focus include rugs, blankets, pillows, fireplaces, microwaves, coffee machines, and bathrooms, as these items tend to accumulate dirt more easily during the transition to indoor-focused living.

Additionally, the season sees an increase in spider sightings within homes. Contrary to the common myth that spiders enter buildings to escape the cold, arachnologists note that most indoor spiders are species already adapted to living inside. The increase in sightings is primarily due to adult male spiders wandering to find mates. Research indicates that a vast majority of spiders seen indoors—often up to 82% in certain surveys—are males, and very few actually migrate from the outdoors to seek warmth.
