Seasonal firefighters in Greece to protest in Tripoli
Seasonal firefighters in the Peloponnese region of Greece have announced a protest in Tripoli scheduled for Monday, August 10, at 11:00 AM. The demonstration will take place at the Peloponnese Fire Service Region on Nikolaou Plastira Street.
The workers are demanding improved labor conditions, including year-round employment and the opening of new positions without age limits. Under the slogan, “We are not asking for privileges. We demand respect,” the group emphasizes their role on the front lines of forest fire fighting and seeks stable professional prospects.
Additionally, the firefighters are protesting a recent order issued on August 1st that suspended the granting of leaves. Although the order lasted only five days, workers claim it caused significant disruption for approximately 300 to 400 individuals, resulting in canceled trips and lost deposits. The group is demanding a clear explanation regarding the operational necessity of the suspension.
