Seasonal wellness and beauty tips for autumn

As the autumn season approaches with colder and wetter weather, experts and lifestyle guides offer various tips for maintaining well-being and appearance.

Regarding physical care, beauty recommendations include using warm, spicy, or woody fragrances to enhance the seasonal atmosphere. To combat dryness caused by changing humidity and lower temperatures, the use of lip masks, nourishing lip oils, or glosses is suggested to maintain lip health.

On the health front, research from the University of Groningen addresses the common ‘autumn dip’ or winter blues, characterized by lethargy, irritability, and increased sleep or appetite. While many suggest vitamin D supplements to combat seasonal mood changes, researcher Ybe Meesters notes that while both low vitamin D and seasonal sadness are caused by a lack of sunlight, they are distinct issues. Vitamin D primarily supports bone strength, whereas mood is more directly influenced by the amount of light hitting the retina. Meesters recommends spending time outdoors, even in cloudy or rainy weather, as natural light provides more benefit for mood than indoor lighting.
