Seattle authorities investigate undelivered ballots found in dumpster

Federal investigators and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are examining the discovery of 92 undelivered election ballots found in a dumpster at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle, Washington. The incident occurred in the Ballard neighborhood less than two weeks before the November 3 general election.

King County Elections confirmed that two bins of election mail were recovered from the park. In response, officials have reissued replacement ballots to the affected voters. While the Seattle Police Department searched 26 additional trash bins in nearby parking lots, no further ballots were found.

Authorities have not yet determined if the ballots were stolen, improperly discarded, or abandoned. Election officials have advised against assuming the incident is a deliberate attempt to interfere with the voting process.
