Seattle Kraken announce first wave of training camp cuts

The Seattle Kraken have announced their first wave of training camp cuts and reassignments as they prepare for the upcoming NHL season. The moves have significantly lightened the camp roster, with 29 players being sent to their respective junior clubs, homes, or professional affiliates.

A large group of players, including Jani Nyman and Jagger Firkus, have been assigned to the Kraken’s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Other players, such as Finn Kearns, Rylan Singh, and Will Reynolds, are returning to their junior clubs. Additionally, the team released Brody Gillespie and Maks Corovic from their rookie camp tryouts.

The current NHL training camp roster includes 23 veterans, such as Curtis Douglas, Ben Meyers, and Jacob Melanson, alongside several younger prospects. Some players have also been signed to Professional Tryouts (PTOs) to bolster camp numbers.
