Seattle Mariners begin managerial search after Dan Wilson departure

The Seattle Mariners are beginning an offseason search for a new manager following the departure of Dan Wilson. Wilson announced he would not return for the 2027 season, a move followed by the announcement that four additional coaches will also not return.

Mariners executive Jerry Dipoto indicated that the organization intends to look outside the team for a new leader to provide “fresh thought” and a potential shift in messaging or programming. Dipoto emphasized the need for a candidate who can challenge the existing operation.

Torey Lovullo of the Arizona Diamondbacks has been mentioned as a potential candidate in internal discussions. Other names being considered or discussed include Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt and former manager Brad Ausmus. The team is looking to address performance issues following a 76-86 season characterized by offensive underperformance and defensive struggles.
