Seattle Mariners execs detail trade deadline moves and future role for prospect Kade Anderson

Seattle Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto discussed the team's activity at the recent trade deadline. He noted that while the club added right‑handed hitter Taylor Ward, outfielder Brendan Donovan and reliever Sir Anthony Domínguez, additional targeted moves did not materialise. Dipoto said the additions improve the roster but the team still fell short of expectations.

Dipoto also addressed the status of top left‑handed pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who posted a 1.20 ERA with 119 strikeouts in Double‑A this season. He emphasized that the Mariners will not use Anderson as a reliever, describing it as "irresponsible for his future development," and indicated the prospect could debut in the majors later this year, with creative usage possible after September.
