Seattle Mariners exercise Andres Munoz 2027 option

The Seattle Mariners have announced they will exercise the 9 million dollar club option for relief pitcher Andres Munoz for the 2027 MLB season. The decision comes following a challenging season for the 27-year-old closer, who recorded a career-worst 4.24 ERA and tied for the major league lead with 10 blown saves.

Despite these statistics, Munoz maintained an average fastball velocity of 99.8 mph, his highest since 2022. His contract also includes an affordable 10 million dollar option for the 2028 season.

In related roster moves, the Mariners declined options for right-hander Bryce Miller and outfielder Victor Robles. While Miller remains under club control through 2029, Robles will receive a 500,000 dollar buyout and enter free agency. Other players entering free agency include Randy Arozarena, J.P. Crawford, Taylor Ward, and Hoby Milner. Additionally, the club claimed outfielder Grant McCray off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.
