Seattle Mariners target Rocco Baldelli in managerial search

The Seattle Mariners are expanding their search for a new manager following the dismissal of Dan Wilson. The organization appears to be prioritizing experienced candidates who have previously managed in the Major Leagues.

Reports indicate that the Mariners are interested in Rocco Baldelli, the former manager of the Minnesota Twins and current special assistant for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Baldelli holds a career record of 527-505 and was named the American League Manager of the Year in 2019. Other experienced names emerging in the conversation include Brandon Hyde and David Ross.

The team has already been granted permission to interview Houston Astros manager Joe Espada. The shift toward veteran candidates suggests an effort by baseball operations president Jerry Dipoto to find a leader with established expertise to guide the franchise.
