Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson faces recall hearing amid disapproval polls

A recall effort is underway to remove Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson from office. A hearing regarding the merits of a recall petition filed by residents Melinda Jacobson and Dale Osterud is scheduled for August 31 in King County Superior Court before Judge Patrick Oishi.

Recent polling indicates significant disapproval of the mayor. One report states that 60 percent of Democrats surveyed believe Wilson should resign or be removed, while 30 percent believe she should remain in office. Additionally, the mayor faces reported loss of support from city council members and indications that Starbucks may relocate a significant number of jobs to a different state.
