Seattle Police investigate fake Uber driver impersonation

Seattle Police are investigating an incident involving a 25-year-old woman who was picked up by a man impersonating an Uber driver on October 10. The woman, who had been at a bar in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, entered a vehicle after the driver confirmed it was her ride, though she did not verify the license plate or driver’s name.

During the ride, the woman noticed the driver was using Google Maps instead of the Uber app and received a notification that her ride had been cancelled. Fearing for her safety, she jumped out of the vehicle while it was stopped at a red light in Kent. She was later located by friends near Military Road South and Kent Des Moines Road.

The suspect is described as a Black male between the ages of 30 and 50, driving a white four-door sedan. Police have noted that local surveillance cameras were non-functional at the time of the incident and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect.
