Seattle Seahawks finalize 53-man roster ahead of NFL season

The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have finalized their 53-man roster ahead of the NFL season opener against the New England Patriots on September 9. General Manager John Schneider noted that the roster remains fluid as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.

Key roster moves include placing running back Zach Charbonnet on the reserve/PUP list as he recovers from an ACL tear, which is expected to sideline him for at least the first four games. The team intends to utilize rookie Jadarian Price as the primary back in Charbonnet’s absence. The Seahawks also acquired undrafted rookie cornerback Avery Smith via trade with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Defensive changes included the release of veterans Trevon Diggs and Noah Igbinoghene. On the offensive side, the team rostered quarterback Sam Darnold alongside Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe. The Seahawks face a challenging season in the NFC West, competing against the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
