Seattle Sounders host Chicago Fire amid roster changes
The Seattle Sounders are set to host the Chicago Fire at Lumen Field as part of the 21st round of the 2026 Major League Soccer regular season. Seattle enters the match seeking to break a nine-game winless streak and improve their standing in the Western Conference, where they currently sit 13th.
To bolster their offense, Seattle has acquired striker Dejan Joveljic via a trade from Sporting Kansas City. Joveljic, who has scored eight goals in MLS this season, stated his intention to “bring goals and help win games” for the club. The Sounders' recent form has been marked by scoring difficulties, having netted only five goals during their recent winless run.
In contrast, the Chicago Fire are performing strongly, holding third place in the Eastern Conference. Despite recent defensive lapses, including a late goal conceded in their previous league match against the New York Red Bulls and a midweek Leagues Cup exit to Monterrey, the Fire remain unbeaten in their last four league matches.
