Seattle Sounders target Danish striker Casper Tengstedt despite MLS Designated Player limit

Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer have expressed strong interest in signing 26‑year‑old Danish forward Casper Tengstedt from Dutch club Feyenoord. Tengstedt, who signed a contract with Feyenoord that runs until June 2029, is considered a potential upgrade for Seattle’s attacking line‑up.

The move faces two major obstacles. First, MLS rules allow each club to register only three so‑called Designated Players, and Seattle currently has no open slot. Second, Feyenoord holds a long‑term contract with the player, giving the Dutch side leverage to demand a high transfer fee that could run into several million euros. Other European clubs, such as Genoa and Sporting CP, have also been linked to the striker.

Negotiations are still in the early stages, with no agreement reached on a transfer fee or the creation of a Designated Player slot for the Danish forward.
