Seb faces formal notice over PFAS use in Tefal products

Three environmental associations—Générations Futures, Notre Affaire à Tous, and ClientEarth—have issued a formal notice to the French appliance group Seb. The associations claim the company is failing to meet its legal duty of vigilance regarding the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as ‘forever chemicals,’ in the manufacturing of its Tefal brand cookware.

The notice requires Seb to comply with legal obligations within three months. Specifically, the groups are calling on the company to identify risks associated with PFAS in its production processes and to plan for the phase-out of these substances, including strategies for the transition of affected jobs and factories. The associations have indicated they may pursue legal action if the company does not comply.
