Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, has announced significant strategic moves to bolster national energy security amid a global energy crisis. A key component of this strategy is the expansion of the Sakarya Gas Field. The Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform is scheduled to be deployed to the Black Sea by late October, with the goal of producing its first gas by the end of the year. This Phase-2 expansion is expected to add 10 million cubic meters to daily natural gas production, potentially meeting the needs of an additional 4 million households and contributing $3.5 billion annually to the economy.

Regarding electricity, the government plans to invest $28 billion in transmission infrastructure by 2035 to accommodate rising demand from urbanization, electric vehicles, and data centers. Under the 2035 Roadmap, Turkey also aims to reach 120 gigawatts of installed capacity from wind and solar power.

Additionally, a delegation from Diyarbakır met with Minister Bayraktar to discuss the energy requirements of the region's industrial and agricultural sectors, specifically requesting strengthened infrastructure and renewed energy support for agricultural irrigation.
