Sebastià Tolosa named 2026 Borgenc de l’Any
Sebastià Tolosa Sans has been named ‘Borgenc de l’Any 2026’ by the Olivera d’Or Prize jury in recognition of his lifelong commitment to culture, education, and community service in Les Borges Blanques.
Tolosa, born in 1952, has a deep connection to the region. He was among the founding singers of the Orfeó Terrall in 1969 and served as a teacher in Barbens, Juncosa, and Arbeca before joining and later directing the Joan XXIII College in Les Borges Blanques until his retirement in 2012. Following his professional career, he has remained active in social and cultural projects, including participating in the University of Lleida’s Senior Program and volunteering for the Red Cross, where he currently presides over the Garrigues Comarcal Assembly.
The jury selected Tolosa’s candidacy, presented by the Orfeó Terrall, with 9 out of 15 votes. The award ceremony is scheduled for September 4 at the Sala Maria Lois. This edition of the prize introduces updated regulations, defining it as an honorary institutional distinction without financial endowment and expanding eligibility to include entities and collectives.
