Sebastiaan Bornauw discusses life and career beyond football

Sebastiaan Bornauw, the 27-year-old defender for Hamburger SV, has shared insights into his life and background beyond professional football. Born from Belgium but raised in Casablanca, Morocco, Bornauw credits his upbringing in Morocco with shaping his perspective on life and diversity.

Bornauw discussed his personal interests, including a passion for travel to regions like Japan and South America, as well as his appreciation for outdoor activities and sports such as Padel and cycling. He also touched upon his personal life, noting that he met his wife, Ines, in their hometown during a local horse championship, and the couple married in 2023.

Regarding his professional transition to Germany, Bornauw noted that he began learning German upon moving to Cologne in 2019 as a sign of respect for the country, stating that speaking the language makes life easier.
