Sebastian Fitzek marks 20‑year author milestone with two open‑air shows at Berlin’s Waldbühne

Bestselling thriller writer Sebastian Fitzek celebrated the 20th anniversary of his debut novel "Die Therapie" with two open‑air performances at Berlin’s Waldbühne on Friday and Saturday evening. Each show began at 20:00 and together was expected to draw around 40,000 attendees. One of the evenings was streamed live by RTL+.

The programmes featured personal anecdotes, musical accompaniment by Matthias Grosch’s band, and guest appearances by singer Rea Garvey and Simon Jäger, the German voice of Matt Damon and narrator of Fitzek’s audiobooks. Fitzek read a passage from his forthcoming novel "Der Nachtzug", slated for release in October, and unveiled its cover.

At 54, the Berlin‑born author is Germany’s most successful thriller writer, regularly topping bestseller lists. The anniversary events highlighted his rise from a radio editor to a household name in German crime fiction.
