Sebastian Majtczak appoints new lawyer for fatal A1 accident trial

Sebastian Majtczak, a businessman from Łódź, has appointed a new legal defender, Marcin Jakubowski, to assist in his trial before the District Court in Piotrków Trybunalski. Jakubowski, who works for a German law firm, joins existing counsel Katarzyna Hebda in representing Majtczak.

Majtczak is accused of causing a fatal accident on the A1 motorway near Sierosław on September 16, 2023. The incident involved a BMW driven by Majtczak striking a Kia carrying a family from Myszków. The collision caused the Kia to hit barriers and catch fire, resulting in the deaths of all three occupants: Patryk, Martyna, and their son Oliwier.

Following the accident, Majtczak left the country and was later detained in Dubai in October 2023, though he did not consent to extradition to Poland. Experts have identified the BMW driver as the party responsible for the crash. A recent attempt by the defense to postpone a hearing scheduled for September 21 was denied by the court.
