Sebastian Samuelsson modifies biathlon rifle for new season

Swedish biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson has implemented significant modifications to his rifle ahead of the upcoming season. The 29-year-old athlete decided to reduce the weight of his previous weapon, which weighed approximately 4.2 kilograms, by about 500 grams.

Beyond the weight reduction, the most critical change involves the rifle's balance. Following work in Oberhof, Germany, Samuelsson utilized a new custom-made buttstock to improve the weapon's center of gravity. He noted that while the weight reduction is helpful, the improved balance is the primary benefit.

Samuelsson first tested the modified rifle during the Swedish Summer Biathlon Championships in Östersund. Despite several shooting errors during the individual and sprint races, he reported positive initial results. He specifically noted that the new balance makes the rifle feel closer to his body during the standing shooting position, which significantly reduces movement compared to his previous setup.
