Sebastian Vettel supports combining F1 sustainability with racing spectacle

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has commented on the debated 2026 technical regulations, suggesting that the sport possesses the technology to align sustainability goals with an exciting racing product.

Speaking at the Italian Grand Prix while driving Michael Schumacher’s 2002 Ferrari F2002, Vettel reflected on the evolution of the sport. While he has historically been critical of the complexity and sound of turbo-hybrid engines introduced in 2014, he noted that current technological advancements offer opportunities to combine performance with environmental responsibility.

Vettel stated that while he may not agree with every aspect of the current regulations from a driver's perspective, there is a significant opportunity to engage fans by finding ways to merge the elements of racing that enthusiasts love with the necessary focus on the future.
