Sebastian Walcott maintains power surge in Double-A baseball

Texas Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott has maintained a significant power surge in Double-A baseball. The 20-year-old Bahamas native has hit five home runs in his last seven games, including a leadoff solo shot for the Frisco RoughRiders against Amarillo. During a recent five-game stretch, Walcott recorded a .381/.458/.857 slash line with three home runs and four RBIs.

Despite these high-level statistics, Walcott did not receive the Texas League Player of the Week honors. The award was given to San Antonio Missions outfielder Braedon Karpathios, who posted a .636 average with three doubles, two home runs, and 13 RBIs over the same period.

Walcott, who is currently serving as a designated hitter following right UCL surgery in February, continues to maintain a season average of .318 with a 1.010 OPS. There is potential for him to return to fielding duties or participate in the Arizona Fall League as the season concludes.
