Toyota clinches podium sweep at Rally Finland as Evans rolls and Ogier crashes

French driver Sébastien Ogier crashed and rolled his Toyota during the Rally Finland, dropping from the lead to fifth place in the World Rally Championship standings. He and co‑driver Julien Ingrassia escaped serious injury thanks to the safety cell and were released from the hospital after checks.

Wales‑born Elfyn Evans also rolled his Toyota Yaris Rally1 near the end of the final stage, losing about 1 minute 50 seconds. Despite the setback, the misfortune of teammate Ogier and Evans’s subsequent overtaking of Adrien Fourmaux allowed him to finish on the podium and extend his championship lead to 30 points.

Finnish rookie Sami Pajari won the event, giving Toyota Gazoo Racing a podium sweep with Oliver Solberg second and Evans third. The victory moved Pajari to second in the overall standings, 30 points behind Evans with four rallies remaining. Hyundai Motorsport acknowledged the difficulty of beating the home‑team Toyota, finishing fourth and fifth.

All drivers plan to contest the remaining rounds, including the upcoming Rally Paraguay, as the battle for the 2026 WRC title intensifies.
