San Juan Villicum motorsport weekend: race wins, grid shuffle and fire

The Desafío de las Estrellas of Turismo Carretera at the San Juan Villicum circuit featured a random grid draw that placed Sebastián Abella on pole and championship leader Jonatan Castellano at the back of the field. Tobías Martínez won the race, marking his second career victory in the series.

A fire broke out in the pits when a brake‑fluid leak ignited near the fuel system of Norberto Fontana’s car, and a separate incident saw Mauricio Lambiris’ Mustang catch fire; both incidents were quickly contained with no injuries.

Support races saw Felipe Bernasconi dominate the TC Pista series and Gabriel Gandulia win the second battery. In Turismo Nacional, Jorge Barrio claimed pole in Class 3 while Pedro Grippo took pole and later won the first series in Class 2. Lucas Vicino earned his first partial victory in TN Class 3, and Mariano Werner started from the 44th position in the Desafío.

The weekend also included a strong showing from local drivers across the various categories, underscoring the event’s importance for Argentine motorsport.
