Sebastián Beccacece backs Pablo Aimar as potential replacement for Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni

Former Ecuador coach Sebastián Beccacece, who served as an assistant to Lionel Scaloni during the 2018 World Cup, said the Argentine national team should continue under Scaloni, but if he steps down he would like former midfielder Pablo Aimar to take over. In an interview with TyC Sports, Beccacece praised the recent performances of the team and lauded Lionel Messi as the tournament’s best player. He also noted that he is being linked with coaching jobs in Chile and Bolivia.

Beccacece’s comments come ahead of the expiry of Scaloni’s contract in December 2026, amid speculation about the future direction of the Albiceleste after a runner‑up finish at the World Cup.
