Sebastián Cáceres joins Celta de Vigo from Club América

Uruguayan defender Sebastián Cáceres has officially joined Celta de Vigo following his departure from Club América. The transfer, which concluded near the end of the market, was valued at approximately 4.5 million euros (roughly 5.24 million USD).

During his presentation, Cáceres compared the tactical nature of Spanish LaLiga to the Mexican Liga MX, noting that the Mexican league features more transitions and “more disorder” compared to the more organized and tactical style of Spanish football.

Cáceres stated that the decision to move to Europe was influenced by positive recommendations from teammates and friends, including Álvaro Fidalgo, Matías Vecino, and Néstor Araujo. After six seasons and multiple titles with América, the 27-year-old defender expressed that he feels he is “in the right place” to pursue his goal of playing in the European elite.
