Sebastián Lelio directs US remake of Chilean film ‘Gloria’

Chilean director Sebastián Lelio has directed the American remake of his own acclaimed 2013 film, ‘Gloria’. While Hollywood frequently adapts foreign films for domestic markets, Lelio chose to helm this version himself, citing his admiration for lead actress Julianne Moore as a primary motivation.

The film, titled ‘Gloria – Das Leben wartet nicht’ (Gloria Bell), stars Julianne Moore as a divorced woman in her mid-fifties navigating life and new connections, including a relationship with a character named Arnold, played by John Turturro. Lelio, who previously won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2018 for ‘A Fantastic Woman’, brings his unique perspective to this adaptation of the story originally starring Paulina García.
