Martínez highlighted the “pura vida” philosophy as a positive aspect of the Costa Rican identity, noting that the phrase reflects a “positive, loving frequency.” However, he described prices in the country as “ridiculously expensive.” He noted that during his stay, he was informed that Costa Rica can be approximately 30% more costly than other Latin American nations.
