SEBI and Bank of England sign MoU on clearing corporation oversight

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Bank of England have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate information exchange and cooperation regarding clearing corporations recognized by the Indian regulator.

The agreement establishes a framework that allows the Bank of England to rely on SEBI’s regulatory and supervisory activities while maintaining the financial stability of the United Kingdom. The cooperation specifically targets central counterparties and is subject to the respective laws and regulations of both authorities. SEBI noted that the arrangement underscores the necessity of cross-border cooperation to support international clearing activities.
